Hello, my name is Jim--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------MY VITALS - At least I'm breathing!Occupation: Information Systems IT Manager ~ Network Administrator Home town: Near Simpsonville South Carolina Location: South Carolina -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- MORE ABOUT ME... I joined this wiki because: I Love my Dogs - my Hounds!...Italian Greyhounds & Beagles & Greagles. To me there is no sound in the world like a Beagle Baying. If I can help someone or encourage someone I will do whatever I can do. But, I will say... If I see someone hurting or mistreating their pet. All I can say is.. You better know Jesus because you may be meeting him sooner than you expected. I will give you a "Near Flea & Tick Experience of the worst Kind". ______________________________________________________________________________ How many Dogs do you Have?: What number would You say constitues a $hitload? LOL. My wife and I have 9 dogs. Three Italian Greyhounds (Sweet Pea replaced Angel), a Beagle and 2 Greagles for (Drum roll please)... a grand total of Seven. Yes, by conventional wisdom we are crazy to have a pack like this. They Sleep at the foot of our bed each night in their own big, warm cozy bed...which is basically an old comforter we bought and folded into a huge square. Every Morning we all have our routines. Belle and Spanky usually get up with Daddy and go out to potty. Afterwards when my wife wakes up the rest of the dogs are then "Rousted" up.. including Dakota Blue who has become very lazy. Talk about the worlds fastest couch-potato! The last two to join our "Pack" were "Dixie" & "Pup-Pup".. both Black Lab's, each 83lbs... Dixie looks to be a little shepard in her muzzle.. but thats it.. Pup-Pup we know was Black Lab mixed with some Boxer.. you can tell it by his massive HEAD.. The woman we got him from as a little puppy said to us "These last two puppies are NOT going home with me today.. one way or another".. (it was at a flea market at the end of the day).. meaning she would dump the last two on the side of the road.. which happens all the time. ______________________________________________________________________________ Sadly we lost our sweet boy Chance on April 5th due to some medical issues, probably his heart. When he was rescued we had him checked out by our Vet..but there must have been something wrong. Anyway.. Here's the page dedicated to my boy.. Our hearts are STILL broken over his loss.. http://www.wikifido.com/page/Chance ________________________________________________________________________________ Missy Girl - Beagle. This is my sweet Beagle girl... a bit hard headed...but I love her just the same! New Picture of Spanky - I had to put it up... I've captioned it "I've got my Eye on you!" First Photo: Playing with all my dogs out back... Spanky and Sweet Pea (blind dog) make a front attack while Belle sneaks around the rear. 2nd Photo: Belle has literally Leaped into my lap and knocked me completely off balance. My wife caught it as it happened. Sienna (Brown iggy in background) is watching. The Iggy's ~ Italian Greyhounds... Angel, Sienna, Dakota Blue Angel died last year after getting out and was hit by a car. She was Dakota's little girl from a liter a long time ago. Sienna was rescued by us from a Puppy Mill. Dakota Blue is an AKC Registered Iggy who's Daddy was suppose to be a Champion somewhere. Sweet Pea - Italian Greyhound. Dakota Blue is her daddy. She is completely Blind. I'm trying to hold her still for a picture - she is constantly moving. The Picture to the right is Southern Belle Star - My Greagle girl. She's a beautiful dog. I had just called her name, she turned and looked me... "Spanky" Greagle - My Boy and What I call My "Christmas Belle" ____________________________________________________________________________ The best word to describe me is: I am an American Patriot, Veteran. A Husband, Father & Grandpa. A Country Boy - with alot of Dogs. My wife is the love of my life and my soul mate. I'm fortunate that we share so much together. Interests: I Hunt, Fish, I also enjoy my critters, Chickens, Dogs, Cats. I have a huge vegetable garden, grape arbors, peach trees, Blueberries, Raspberries, Strawberries, Blackberries. I make my own butter, bread, pasta, Jelly & Cheese. This is the time of year that the Wild Blackberries and the Wild Blueberries are ripening! I've been out going crazy because we've had so much rain its a "Bumper Crop". I've already made quarts and quarts of Wild Blackberry jelly. It's very hard to put down ALL the things that I do because I'm so active.. I really dont know where I get the energy. I hope it lasts! I love getting out with my dogs - or Damn Dogs as my wife says. The Italian Greyhounds are "her" dogs. My dogs...The Beagle, Missy Girl and two pups that I kept from a liter she had. Southern Belle Star & Spanky. Belle is my CHAMPION frisbee catcher. She can leap 4 feet in the air and catch that darned thing. I know that it's important to get them out and exercise them - a bored dog is a mischevious dog...and a very unhappy dog. They KNOW when its time to go out with Daddy and play.. Belle will actually "talk" to me.. or try to... its adorable... Well... thats my "PACK"... and yes - I am definately a dominant Pack leader. They KNOW this and follow what I say. You'd think 6 dogs would be too much to handle. Well, they are a handful but they do pretty well considering I've seen others that are terrible just by themselves. Always, ALWAYS make time to excercise and play with your dogs. They have to release this energy. THEN you can work with them. Favorite movies: The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford Transformers Cloverfield Breech Favorite TV shows: BattleStar Galactica! (I'm heartbroken it has ended!) StarGate Atlantis (I'm heartbroken it has ended too!) Castle (yea, I like this one) House _______________________________________________________________________________________________ My Heroes: THE LOST HEROS OF SEAL TEAM 10, SEAL TEAM 5 & SEAL TEAM 1, HOOYAH! (Yea right!), Actually, Dogs and Cats love me for some reason. I believe animals can "SENSE" a persons spirit. Then again, there are just some animals that dont care :) If I could live anywhere, it would be: Right where I am! I live in paradise.. Near the mountains and hills in Upstate South Carolina. My dream job(s): I aleady have it, IT Manager for a Technology company. What else you should know about me?: I'm a happily married man to a beautiful lady. No really - she IS a beautiful lady, 17 years we've been married. We have 3 kids (all grown). Two of them have made us grandparents, 3 times over! Alex, Donovan & Casey. My wifes family comes from the Hills of Kentucky - Harland County.. the coal mines. Her father was (is) a Southern Baptist Deacon and church planter. I greatly respect him. My wife always joked about being a "DK" - Deacons Kid being better than a "PK" Preachers Kid. Ironically, when we married I would end up getting ordained as a Deacon also... Now, she's a "DK-DW" - Deacons Kid/Wife. She just cant win for loosin. LOL. Life is never simple is it? Me? I'm a very active member on a Special Operations Forum with alot of good friends who also served and are serving this Country in the Military, I write and report on my own Conservative Blog. I'm proud of my service to my Country in the United States Military. I'm an honorably discharged, partially disabled US Navy Veteran. I spent 3 years in Marine Corps JROTC. I really believed in what we were doing in Vietnam and was going to be a part of it. Then the war stopped, a few years later Siagon fell. So, I enlisted in the US Navy. I went to Boot in Orlando and RM "A" School in San Diego. I was in Naval Communications Intelligence for most of my Tour of Duty. At one duty station I was however assigned as a Combat Platoon Leader for Ground Defense forces in addition to my normal job working at the TSC (Tactical Support Center). This was because they found out I just happen to know ALOT about weapons (M14, M16, M60, M79) because of my background. I've also flown on ASW and Reconaissance missions with VP16, 24, 45 & 49... Ironically, Eagles, Pelicans, Woodpeckers.. :) It was a great time to be young and traveling all over the world. I saw alot and experienced quite a bit in those years, they helped shape me into the man I am today. Its good to know "Where" you come from so you know WHO you are and where you are going in life.
