Why is this restricted to AKC Breeds?
By doing so you are limiting the dogs that can be listed. For example the Jack Russell Terrier has its own organzation The Jack Russell Terrier Club of America http://www.terrier.com/ They have fought being listed in AKC because they did not want to Jack Russell to become sissified.
