I have a Basenji, Purebred, named Pete. I love him dearly. He is one of three dogs in my household and he loves them- lets them be dominant,simply because he loves the company. I've watched "The Dog Whisperer", and found it very helpful. On leash, I make him heel, and to get him to obey commands, I square my shoulders. Additionally, if he growls, I point at him and make a "SST" sound. He stops. I'd get another one in an instant, only I'd get him used to a Kennel right away, in additon to excersizing him regularly.
