Physical Description and Size

Temperament: Often thought of to be lazy, this smart (and sometimes mischevious)dog will go to almost any length to follow what it smells due to it's superb sense of smell. Naturally stubborn, it is HIGHLY advisable to seek basic obedience training when they are still a puppy. This said, A VERY SWEET DOG. They are fond of cuddling up on a lap and have a beautifully melodious bark, called a"bay". they are also known for their long ears and droopy face. They are well with kids and love other dogs. When I got my bubby, I stayed up all night, but he learned to sit! These dogs hate to be alone, so when in a park, take their leash off if allowed. They will stay by your side! Basset pups also love to go in the car, and will almost always just sleep there. (get a stepping stool to reach the car door! They get up to 80lbs.!!!)

Dog Care
Weight maintenance is needed as this breed can gain weight easily if overfeed. A good 45 minute-1 hour walk is advised.

Health Issues and Life Expectancy

Can be prone to bloat.
