Bathing your dog - Dogs & Dog RescueDog hygiene and why you must wash:
Giving a dog a simple bath once a week can prevent many things such as ticks, fleas, infections and much more! Dogs can grab many insects and bugs in their fur from running an playing in your garden. Your dog needs a wash, especially a younger pup. Hygiene for any dog is very important, dogs give off a disgusting odor is you do not wash him/her.

Where to wash:
If you grab a hosepipe and just wash your dog in the sunshine it's not going to help much. Placing your furry friend in a bathtub filled with water you can drown unpleasant and annoying bugs. If you find it unhygienic to wash your dog in your bath, (especially people who are allergic to dogs) you can buy your dog or use a tub at your nearest vet.

Shampoo and Conditioner:
Remember to never use your own shampoo on your dog. Dogs must only be washed in their own vet-approved shampoo.shampoo. If you wash your dog in your own shampoo and conditioner it can leave dogs with itchy skin or even worse side-effects to other dogs. Also, try as much as you can to get natural dog shampoo, too many chemicals can leave skin infections and irritations.

Scared of water:
If your dog is scared of water and it's still young, take it to a training class. Your dog can learn how to swim and stay interactive. But, if your dog is quite old and scared of water, don't rush or scare your dog near water, always make sure the water temperature is not to hot or cold. Slowly place your dog in the water and fuss over him/her and make them feel comfortable and safe. But, if this is still not working, consult your nearest vet.
