Sometimes time or finances prevent us from having our dog professionaly bathed at a groomer. Or sometimes, we AND Fido both enjoy it more if we do it at home!
Tips for giving your dog a bath at home:
- if your dog is afraid of being in the bathtub, wait for warm weather and do it outdoors
- make sure to get a shampoo and/or conditioner that is made for your dog's sking and coat type
- make sure the water is warm but not hot, body temperature is best
- most dogs don't "shake" until their neck and head gets wet. To save yourself from being soaked, wash this part last
- make sure to tip your dogs head up and avoid getting and water in his eyes or ears
- dry your dog thoroughly. He may seem plenty warm, but damp fur will make him chilly and uncomfortable
