My dog's name: Bear

Hometown: Biloxi, MS

How we met: The HumanHumane Society of South Mississippi hooked us up.

I didn't name Bear, he came with that name when I got him. He responded so well to it, I just kept it. He does have many nicknames, though. His most common nicknames are UmBEARto and Bear-ba. (That last is Bear+Bubba because he is a Southern dog.) We think he was born around Valentine's Day, 2005.

Bear is a mutt. I think he's mostly Chocolate Lab, but he looks like he has some shepard, and maybe some chow in him, too.

Bear bounces like Tigger when he chases sticks. When he is running at high speed, he takes corners almost vertically sideways.

Bear is an exceptionally good dog, for the most part. He stays out of the trash and off the furniture. I can take him to meetings, and after greeting everyone, he will settle in for a good snooze.

However, Bear HATES being left at home, no matter what. If left in the house, he'll chew my stuff. If left in the back yard, he'll dig holes. (Don't tell my landlord.) But brought along on any car ride, no matter how long, he's great. Bear will happily wait in the car for hours doing no damage whatsoever.
