Short History of the Breed

Cross between a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel and a Bichon Frise.
Cavachons are a breed that was started in 1996 in a small town in Iowa. The breed was started at Century Farm Puppies in Grundy Center, Ia.

They are a registered mixed breed. Registerable with American Canine Hybrid Club.

Physical Description and Size

They are non-shedding and "allergy friendly." Some breeders will tell you that they are hypoallergenic, this, however, is not true.
Cavachons typically mature to between 10-18lbs, occasionally some get a little bigger or stay a little smaller. It also depends on the size of the parents.

Temperament

Sweet.

Dog Care

(exercise, grooming, diet)
Since they are non-shedding, their hair grows like ours and needs to be groomed. They do need to be brushed often. The length of their hair can vary depending on how the owner prefers. Most people do a "Puppy Clip" that keeps them looking like a puppy forever.

Health Issues and Life Expectancy

A small dog should live to be 10-15 years old.
Being a hybrid Cavachons are generally a heartier, healthier dog. They get the best traits of both parents.
