My dog's name: DIXIE

Hometown: Jacksonville, AL

How we met: I met Dixie through my job. I work at an Animal Control Center and she was brought in as a drop off. It was love at first sight and as soon as she was available I took her home.

What makes my dog special: The way she treats my daughter. Macon was about 9 months old when I brought Dixie home. They go everywhere together and Dixie will let Macon pull on her, push on her, yell at her, etc. without so much as a twitch. She goes to the bedroom with Macon at night and sleeps right at the foot of her bed. On September 2nd of this year, Macon had a seizure and quit breathing. Dixie was right there nudging my leg trying to wake me up and alert me as to what was happening. When we left for the hospital Dixie came and laid down in the floor by the door and never moved as we ran by, which is unusual. Usually she is right under our feet when we try to leave without her because she loves to ride. She is a wonderful companion to our entire family and we wouldn't trade her for the world!

My dog's likes/dislikes: She loves the water and to go for rides. She doesn't like flashlights when they are turned on and she hates the vacuum cleaner.
