Keep checking with Petfinder.com and oodle.com. It took me over a year to find a hound-then I ended up with 2-as they were dumped off at the kill shelter together and shared a pen together. My son would come into the kitchen after midnight and I'd be sitting at the computer crying because they just didn't have any hounds listed-or a rescue group said that we were unfit because I'm in my 60s (too old for a hound) and my son is a disabled vet (too frail). We were offered a hound by one rescue group that had a $6,000 vet bill attached-shattered leg and lots of skin grafts. I almost didn't check that day my sweetie pies were listed-as the director of the kill shelter told them that nobody wanted a hound and the hounds had only 6 hours of adoption time. I found the hounds online-called the shelter-found out that we only had a few hours to get them. I called my son at the VA and told him to get his rear here-gas was $5 gallon and we broke the speed limit for a hundred miles one way. When we got there we couldn't decide which one to take-so we took both. Some of the staff was saying that the hounds would end up in the shelter within 6 weeks-that was March 19, 2008. They sleep with me and are very gentle with my son. Don't give up!! Stonewall doesn't seem to be a pure hound-but probably has some German Short Hair mixed in. He's the handsome dude to the left. Missy seems to be a purebred Treeing Walker Coonhound. Stonewall does have a good Bluetick Treeing Coonhound bawl. They are loud-They are big- they aren't scared of anything and they are mine!! Let me know how it goes-PS-I could've gotten a bassett or a beagle-but I wanted a coonhound-big-brassy and bold-I just love them (coonhounds).
