Ella the Airedale
Ella joined our family in 2002 and is lovingly spoiled by all of us. She came from a breeder in Port Angeles, WA (Loc Aire). She is active, but fairly calm for an Airedale. Her favorite game is chase - she takes a squeaky toy and pokes at you with it (usually in the bum - Airedales are clowns, you know), until you chase after her! I swear she's laughing as she trots away!
As with many Airedales, Ella has food allergies that manifest as skin rashes, hot spots, etc., but with her prescription food (Royal Canin Duck & Potato), we seem to have that under control at last! Her special food additive is cooked white rice - she gets all excited about that nummy rice added to her dinner dish, especially when still warm!
Ella is not fond of getting wet - I don't know if that is a trait for Airedales or not! When it is raining, we have to shove her off the porch to do her business and sometimes she'll actually "fake pee" then run back up on the porch! Somehow, it's a different thing to get wet when she is running on the beach...

Thanks for adding the great new picture of Ella! I read through your description, and I realized that we are co-Washingtonians! That storm was a doozy, wasn't it! We lost power for 10 days, and our pug Zoey also had one of her many outfits on the whole time--actually, she does love to wear clothes, so it worked out!
Anyhow, just wanted to drop a note to say that Ella is looking fine in that sweater of hers! |

It would have been fun to see Ella taking me, (Prince Whidbey), for a walk by holding my leash in her mouth.

Do NOT ask me why, but the first person I associated your pooch with when I looked at her picture was Patrick Stewart! (I shocked even myself with this reaction) Ella just looks like she has a calmness and poise about her that I see in good ol' Professor X (or Captain Picard if you prefer) ;)

Does Ella attack water? I knew and airedale that attacked and generally went crazy whenever any water was around (i.e. attack sprinklers, chase water down the drain). It made giving him a bath quite interesting.
