Favorite Dog Toys

  • What's your dog's favorite toy--and why? Click on Easy Edit to add it to the list!

Rubber chew toys with treat inserts: They come in various chew strengths and sizes and can be filled with dog treats to occupy your pooch for hours.

  1. KONG
  2. Buster Cube
  3. Busy Buddy
  4. GoughNuts: The guaranteed indestructible dog chew toy

  • Squeaky Toys: Many dogs love to squeak to their heart’s content. Watch out for heavy chewers however. If your dog manages to chew the toy apart, that squeaker could go down the hatch in seconds!
    1. squeaky mouse
    2. a discontinued Sea monster toy from Hartz :(
    3. Squeaky pig

Tug Toys: These toys are made specifically so the dog can grasp one end in his mouth and you can hold on to the other end. Tug of war games might not be for every dog. It’s probably best to shy away from these games if your dog is an aggressive type, but if not, you can safely play with a few simple guidelines. Tug of war should only be played with one or two specific toys so that your dog only identifies this behavior with the specific toy. Also, your dog will understand the limitations of this game even more if you begin the game with one specific command and end the game with another.
    1. tug of war rope
    2. Tug A Jug (gives the owner a nice wide non-slip grip)

Flying Toys: For dogs that love to retrieve, these Frisbee like disks are designed for rigorous play and specially cushioned for a dog’s mouth.
    1. wubba
    2. Combat Flying Cow Dog Toy
    3. Kevlar Flying Saucer
    4. scubby doo frizbee

Common Accessories\Household Items: Remember, a dog can be just as finicky as a human (if not more so), so pay close attention to whatever your pooch has a preference for. Example: a friend of mine has the cutest weiner dog who has a supernatural affinity for his doggie bed. Once he has worn one out, she has to order him another of the exact same kind -- then give them some alone time.
    1. ANY STICK
    2. tennis ball
    3. his bar b q bone
