I have a German Shephard/Golden Retriever mix who is a great family dog but has issues with strangers of all age and gender. He is 2.5 years old and is very loyal and protective of our family- which is the problem. Whenever we have friends over I need to put him in a kennel, when we are out walking he needs to wear a muzzle. I feel sorry for him and have been told he could probably be trained as he comes from "working dog" breeds and right now his job is to protect. Unfortunately I do not have time to train him and feel sorry for him. Now that the kids are old enough to have friends over, I fear for them as well. And right now I am scared of how he acts toward strangers as he is unpredictable and I cannot control him. I am looking for someone who loves dogs, is patient, and has time to work with him. Ideally a single female might be best as men tend to set the dog off more than females.
