The temperament of a fila is actually very protective. It's been said that this is the only breed out there that is agressive towards people. I would just say they're protective. As the breeder I know says, when you step out the door with your pitbull, they say, "where's the wolf?" The fila is saying, "where's the axe murderer?" Very protective of their clan, not really too happy about strangers. It differs from fila to fila. They are one of the dogs banned from the UK. They are incredible, though. I am thoroughly in love:)
