I am sure there are retired vets out there and I am going to go into this briefly however it is very important for pet owners and your extended family members. We lost all to hurricane KATRINA in 2005, EXCEPT our pets. We looked like Noah's Ark leaving St. Bernard Parish. We moved a total of 5 times and the last was to come home to rebuild. WE decided to spay our German Shepherd female in TN. I will not and cannot go into the vets name. I will say that they strongly advocated the PAIN SHOT POST SPAY. We held her NPO " I am a nurse" and did all as instructed and certainly did not want her in pain. SHE was my baby, literally, when she slept with us her body was up against mine like a person with her arm around me.
When we picked her up, we were told she was sleeping, prior to the surgery I was asked if we wanted bloodwork to make sure her heart and lungs were working ok for the surgey. We were given 3 different prices and types RACKET, extra charge and choose the middle one. She did not even recognize the vehicle and walked on the leash as if she had BRAIN DAMAGE. Upon arrival at home I checked her gums, The attitude she had was blamed on the pain shot. LOOSING ALL YOU OWN, and going thru what we did, I was nervous and frankly, when told to bring he back and did , we were made to feel we were STUPID. I called their only Emergency Clinic again that evening and was TOLD to put her in the KENNEL, German Shepherds are WHINNY? Well, we also were told that if we felt she had to come in to CALL FIRST? THIS WAS AN EMERGENCY CLINIC, owned by the same people and the only one, I called them at about 1045 and said we are coming in. Misty coded on the front porch. Resp and cardiac Failure. I did resp and my husband did compressions. We got her back twice. When she coded the third time, I knew I had to let her go. The vet on site was a partner with the vet that did the procedure. NECROPSY ACUTE HEMMORRHAGE.SO MUCH MORE TO TELL OUT OF WORDS!!
