Short History of the Breed

Cross between a maltese and a poodle.

Physical Description and Size

Varies. Range from 5lbs - 16lbs. Colors vary according to breeding.
Common colors: grey/black/white; apricot; white
Coat can be straight or wavy, or combination of both
Non-shed coat; easily matts

Temperament

Friendly, cuddly; enjoys playing and napping with owner
Very intelligent, learns commands quickly

Dog Care

(exercise, grooming, diet)
Needs daily exercise and play time
Monthly grooming and weekly brushing (dependent on length of coat) suggested
Clean eyes 2-3 times a week

Health Issues and Life Expectancy

Healthy maltipoos can be expected to live around 10 - 14 years. Special care should be taken as dogs tend to be
smaller but very active; ensure safety when playing and jumping as dog ages. Eyes tend to become dirty quickly, keep clean a few times a week to ensure healthy vision. Ears need to be clear of hair in the inner canal; see vet for
assistance.
