My dog's name: Missy GirlMy dog's breed is: BeagleMy dog's birth date: April 11th, 2006
Hometown: Gray Court, SCHow we met: My wife and I happened to be at the Feed store one day getting some feed for our Goats and Chickens when I heard something, something interesting. Walking toward the back of this old rural feed store I see a large cage with - Beagle PUPPIES! The man who owned the store had a liter of pups for sale. The old man who owned the store told us that these were "Yellow River Beagles" (
something I haven't been able to find any reference to). My wife and I sat down on the cold concrete floor of that feed store in front of the cage and started picking out puppies to love on and play with. One puppy kept schooching herself backwards in the cage because she appeared very timid and scared. I always like the timid ones, not the "air dogs" that are constantly jumping. I picked her up and immediately I got a really good "
Face Cleaning". She just seemed to be perfect for us. My wife looked at me and knew it was a lost cause trying to talk me out of it. Besides, she already had 3 Italian Greyhounds that were definately HER dogs. I decided that this puppy needed to go home with us. As a puppy she was a little BOOGER. We hadnt really named her but one day my wife was irritated with something she'd done and said something like "Ok you - Little Missy"... I looked at my wife and said .. that's IT!
"Missy Girl" will be her name! Its now 3 years later and "Missy Girl" is definitely Daddy's little girl. She loves going Bye Bye with me in the truck. It doesnt matter where I'm going, as long as she can go too! She'll lay across the center console to get her head in my lap as I drive. Forget buckling her in - she chews it!
For a number of years now she has gone out hunting with me and helped me find game that would have otherwise been lost. She is the dominant female bitch in our house, and we have 4 other dogs. The Italian Greyhounds don't mess with her and her Puppies (now 1 1/2 years old) Belle and Spanky watch out and mind their Mommy! She was an excellent mother to the puppies. She's now been spayed so there wont be any more "surprises".
What a picture! Beautiful girl!
Missy Girl and her "accidental" Liter of Greagles. She's fixed now! Thank Goodness
These are two of Missy Girl's Puppies now grown up from the picture above as little pups. Southern Belle and Spanky are Greagles.
What makes my dog special: She loves her Daddy and has to be near him all the time and the way she looks at him with those huge beautiful brown Beagle eyes!
My dog's likes/dislikes: She does NOT like Vegetables but does like meat (especially Venison). She LOVES to get out and run in the woods and also loves going Bye Bye with Daddy and going out hunting with Daddy to help him find game he cant find.
