He was rescued from the Southern Pines Animal Shelter in Hattiesburg, Mississippi following Hurricane Katrina. He was only a puppy when the storms came through, and he was surrendered because the owners were unable to cope with the storm and take care of him. Most people don't believe in love at first sight, but I knew simply by looking at him that he was to be my dog...

Buddy is a one-year-old black labrador retreiver mix. I believe that he is mixed with some kind of terrier, but I am unsure as to which breed. He weighs approximately 38 lbs. and stands about 17 inches high. He has a growing repertoire of tricks, including shaking hands. lying down, and begging. Buddy loves to sleep, which occupies the bulk of his day, but he thoroughly enjoys playing with anything that squeaks and with his happy owner! He is one of the sweetest dogs I have ever met, and he loves to meet new people and other dogs (and cats!). Buddy has some interesting quirks that are noteworthy: he doesn't bark - he mostly whines to communicate, and he prefers to wear a rain jacket when going outside in the rain. Buddy is an amazing friend, and my life would be incomplete without him...
