Our Mission
The mission of the National Dog Day Foundation is to honor dogs for all they do in our lives and in our country by creating a highly publicized annual fundraising event for National Dog Day which will facilitate our ability to award grantees with financial support and help to give good homes to 10,000 dogs on National Dog Day.

NDDF Goals

• Create programs and supportive relationships with nationwide shelter and rescue organizations in order to provide assistance with animal adoptions and public awareness about the plight of homeless dogs in the U.S.

• To support shelters in time of need, preventing closure or promoting reopening by offering financial support, construction remodel, food, supplies, and miscellaneous necessities.
  

• Support nationwide programs that promote adoption, education, responsible dog care and ownership with financial and networking support

Since early 2005, the National Dog Day Foundation has been working diligently, planning our life saving event for August 26th in New York. Between events we will be helping to raise monies for our cause through various programs and fundraisers. We have also implemented “Project Shelter -- Offering a Helping Paw” – in which, as our funding grows, we will be able to assist several shelters in need every year across the country. Our current project is the Forks, Washington, Animal Shelter that had to close its doors over a year ago due to a lack of funding, poor conditions for the animals and lack of supplies. NDDF will be helping to remodel this shelter, provide food, equipment and vital necessities to help it reopen -- and keep it open.

Although just a fledgling few months old when Hurricane Katrina created such mass devastation in the South, the Foundation was able to provide shelter and much needed supplies to more than 1,000 dogs and cats, including food, clothing and supplies to 20 families. We are not just about dogs – we are about “LOVE”…for all creatures large and small.
