How PetPromise worksPetPromise Emergency Pet Guardian Notification Program - Dogs & Dog Rescue
PetPromise is a vital link between emergency rescue personnel and your designated pet guardians. This program goes into effect if you have suffered a sudden serious illness, injury or death. Upon activation of you Dogtravel Company membership, you will be issued a PetPromise card in the mail with your unique ID number on it. This ID number will correspond to your Dogtravel Company personal profile that you create upon joining Dogtravel Company. Your profile contains information about your pets, as well as the names and phone numbers of the guardian you have appointed to care for your pets in the case of a sudden serious illness or injury, or in the case of your death. Your profile should also include your veterinarian's name and phone number. This information is housed on a secure and confidential database.

Your PetPromise card should always be carried next to your drivers license or ID and will identify you as a pet owner to emergency personnel in the case of a sudden serious illness or injury, or in the case of your death. The PetPromise card instructs emergency responders to call a special toll free number and provide the operator with your personal ID number. The PetPromise operator will then begin contacting your designated guardians to inform them that an emergency has occurred and ask you to initiate the care and plan that you, the pet owner, have provided. The phone number on the PetPromise card is manned by a call center 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and works anywhere in the world.

In order for this program to be effective please make sure you have logged in to your Dogtravel Company profile and included the names and numbers for your appointed guardians and veterinarian. Make sure to sit down with your guardians and veterinarian and discuss what it means to be an appointed pet guardian.

How guardians are contacted

1. We will immediately call the 1st designated guardian. If unable to reach immediately, a message will be left and we will continue to call every hour for 2 hours.

2. If unable to reach the 1st guardian within 2 hours we will call the 2nd designated guardian and continue to call both on the hour until one is reached.

3. If unable to speak to either guardian within 6 hours then a call is placed to your veterinarian's office.

4. We will place a follow up phone call to the responsive guardian within 24 hours to ensure all pets are accounted for.
