San Diego Fire Pet Rescue Effort
Can you think of ways to help the victim of the Southern California fires and their pets? If so, please add your ideas to the list.
As reports continue to pile in about the fires that rage in Southern California, we're compiling a resource to assist in the pet rescue efforts. Below, you'll find a list of important information links to find out about the current situation in San Diego. In addition, you'll find sites for lodging of pet evacuees.
WAYS YOU CAN HELP
- Contact the rescue organizations. By contacting one of these organizations or rescue sites directly, you can ask if any specific supplies are needed. Many are adequately stocked, but you can always ask, in case there are specific needs. Additionally, if you are interested in helping out at a rescue site, call first to find out if there is a need.
- Make a cash donation. Funding is always an issue and these rescue organizations would be able to use the funds to keep operational.
- Offer to foster a pet. Evacuation sites are addressing the short term need, but in the longer term the displaced residents may need a temporary home for their pet. By contacting any of the rescue/shelters below, you can offer your assistance in giving a homeless pet a temporary home.
- Adopt a pet. Due to these unfortunate circumstances, some owners may no longer be able to keep their pet and may be looking for a forever home for their pet. If you're able to take in a new furry family member, contact one of the organizations below to find your new forever friend.
When an emergency strikes, be prepared. Learn about caring for dogs in a disaster and create a Fido First Aid Kit.
