Merle Piebald Great Dane
Name: Schultzy (Major Wesley Schultz)

How we met: Puppy fever!
Schultzy is a double Merle but has no major medical issues (yet), isn't blind or deaf. He has a striking physique and a pleasant temperament. He's a bit larger than average standing 35.5" at the withers and weighing 130 lbs at 10 months of age. He is thin (all ribs are visible) but broad and muscular. I expect him to grow another 3"- 4" in height by 18 months of age and put on another 70 lbs by the time he is 2 years old. Schultzy is currently intact but only to benefit from his hormones. Schultzy WILL NOT be bred since he is the product of poor breeding (both Harle father and Mantle mother have the Merle gene) and about 50% of his offspring would die before 6 weeks of age.
Schultzy loves swimming, leaping around with other dogs, playing at the park, frolicking with his favorite toys, cuddling on the couch, bath time and watching TV.
Schultzy's favorite dogs to play with are Pugs, Boston Terriers, all Bulldog variations, all Pit Bull variations and Boxers (especially brindle). It's strange how they have favorites...he will single them out in a crowded dog park.
To slow his growth, prevent deformaties and alergic reactions I feed him low protein holistic kibble. I would feed him RAW if I had the time and patience. Schultzy is consuming about 10-13 cups of food per day.
If you are considering a Great Dane I urge you to do your research. I learned so much in the first week of having Schultzy and I wish I would have been better prepared for this type of dog. Here are some helpful links:
