A few months after the loss of our previous dog, I was surfing the local Humane Society and SPCA websites and saw a very pretty dog, advertised as a "Lab Mix". A very short time later, the power went out, and the radio announced it would be several hours before it could be restored. I hopped in my car and drove to see "Dora" and her sister "Laura" who were found abandoned on the side of the road. When I walked into the SPCA, "Dora" was the only dog that didn't bark her head off and jump up and down, so I asked to take her for a walk. She was obviously happy to be with a human and very affectionate. A few days later I brought my wife and daughter to see her and they loved her too. We brought her home that day. We thought the name "Dora" didn't suit her, so we changed her name to "Sienna" which appropriately describes her beautiful brown brindle.

Six months later Sienna is nicely integrated into our family (our Vet guesses she is now two years old) and seems to realize how lucky she is to end up in a pet-loving home like ours. My internet research has convinced me that "Dora" and her sister are actually TTBDs and not "Lab Mixes". She lives for belly rubs and our daily two-hour run in the woods to chase squirrels! I am fortunate to work out of my house and she is a wonderful companion as she follows me around everywhere.

TTBDs definitely aren't the dog for everyone, but if you can devote the time to give them PLENTY of exercise, and be patient while the dog disappears into the woods for minutes at a time, you will have a wonderful, affectionate family dog that rarely barks and is fairly tolerant of other pets and visitors.

I am very thankful the power went out on that fateful Thursday,
