Daisy is a lovely Treeing Walker Coonhound. She is about 2 1/2 years old and spayed. She needs a home that can provide the plenty of exercise and discipline that she deserves. We originally rescued her from a shelter, she was about to be put down, we couldn't say no to her adorable face, and sweet hugs. We don't want to give her up, but it's not fair for her to be outside alone all day, or in her crate. She needs room to roam. She knows sit, down, come (selective hearing though). If you feel that you can provide this, please email me.

Daisy showed up at my house 7 months ago tired and with heartworms. After treatment and rehabilitation she is healthy, sweet and I love her alot. She has started hunting when I take her for walks and she doesn't come home. I either find her or someone finds her MILES from my house. She does not come when called when she is hunting. I am very concerned for her safety and am seriously considering trying to find her another home. Any advise?

any advice for shedding. I saved one from a local shelter and brush her everyday but she is shedding like crazy. Also, she has selective hearing and have so far been only able to train her to sit.

I am the manager of a shelter in CT and we recently had a treeing walker come to the shelter to be placed. He is not doing well though. He is a wonderful dog and gets along with other dogs, and loves people, but he does not stop barking! From the time I come in, in the morning, til the time I leave at night he's barking his head off. I don't have any experience with the breed, so does anyone have ideas to quiet him down?

Here's a link to a Treeing Walker Coonhound at a high-kill shelter in my area (central KY) that needs to be rescued. In this area, they're usually dumped because they "won't hunt" and are rarely adopted. Please help and forward if you can:

My partner and I recently adopted two treeing walker coonhound pups from the OSPCA, here in Canada. They were six weeks when we adopted them, and that was a little over two weeks ago. So, now they are eight weeks. They are the most beautiful, loving, funny, intelligent and currious puppies I have ever known. I am so in love with them! I have been looking up soooo much information, trying to learn as much as I can. Through my searching, I have found some valuable possitive info, and advice, but I have seen more negative than possitive when it comes to having them as non hunting-family companions. I don't really understand this, only because I believe that if you have them from such an early age and you offer them tons of love, exercise, fun, and purpose(I am thinking about having them trained as therapy dogs, eventually) Also, I read from a few sources on the net, never to get two puppies at the same time. I read that they will bond with each other instead of me, and that they will most likely turn vicious towards one another. When they are used as hunting dogs, I haven't heard of the dogs turning vicious towards one another-on the contrary. I would love to hear what anyone has to say.

The Humane Society Of Atlantic County in New Jersey has a 2-3 year old male Treeing Walker Coonhound for adoption. His name is Bobby. He has been here since January. He was transferred to us with heartworms and lymes. He has been treated for both and is ready to go home! He is good with other dogs and is very calm. He's a staff favorite. The phone number is (609)347-2487.
