Turtle Gardens LogoTURTLE GARDENS RESCUE

Who We Are

Turtle Gardens has operated for over 20 years as a small, private shelter that rescues homeless dogs in Northern BC. The dogs come from all circumstances - former family dogs, pups from unplanned litters and sadly, dogs from more neglectful situations. Turtle Gardens takes them all in and rehomes almost all of them. Those few listed as unadoptable due to behaviour or health are kept in safety for the remainder of their lives. Turtle Gardens is a no-kill shelter.

Spay/Neuter Program

It has become obvious that even with the hundreds of animals adopted out each year through Turtle Gardens the flow of homeless animals will not stop unless a viable spay/neuter option is given to the low income families of Northern BC. Turtle Gardens is in the process of developing a low cost Spay/Neuter program. If this project is of interest to you please consider donating to the "SNP" or Spay/Neuter Program. If you know of any other fundraising opportunities for this program please contact us via email with your ideas. Our Vision is 2020 - we would like all pets in Northern BC spayed or neutered by 2020. Help us see 2020!

About Turtle Gardens

JulyDecember 30th,16, 2006 |Edit
Turtle Gardens has Rescued and placed over 30004000 animals since we opened our doors to unwanted pets. Each is vaccinated upon arrival if needed, wormed, fed 21% dog food, spayed or neutered and started in basic obedience training. We use positive reinforcement training. Dogs thrive on clicker training. They learn HOW to learn. They learn what behaviour earned them a treat and are very quick to repeat it; be it a sit, walk on loose leash or come when called. All important to learn and continue. Our logo is the little shelter with heart but our policy is slow and steady; there IS a home for every pet. 90% of our dogs are adopted as long distance adoptions. They are transported to Surrey to the south, or Prince Rupert to the north in our TG Bus to meet up with their families. They fly Pacific Coastal to Vancouver Island or the Kootenays (Thank you Pacific Coastal for supporting Rescue dogs)
Where we are oct31_04.JPG They say one picture can say a thousand words. Thank God because I could never put into words what is going on it this picture. I have been asked very many times too, as well most of the people I meet in the lower mainland all want to know what Mom looks like and what theTurtle poundGardens looks like. So I scurried around at the last minute and put this together in hopes of letting these pictures speak their volumes. I just wish I could have found a camera to take a picture of Mom inside, because what I see in this picture is love , wisdom and courage. She loves them all but has the wisdom to know that she can’t love and fulfill them in a way a family can. With great courage she sends them to there new love filled homes. Just gotta love ya, Mom. So please take a minute to go on a virtual tour of T.G. and the family that makes it happen day to day. (by son#1 Stan)
