Best parks/walks:
Pacific Park (currently 26 acres of unleash nature area), Ross Dog Park (8 acres of rolling hills), Lacamas Lake, Vancouver Lake, Washougal River Boat Ramp at the Parker House, Riverfront Walk from Beaches Restaurant to Esther Short Park (about 3 miles round trip, level, easy). Best veterinarians:
We have many terrific vets. My vet is Dr. Tracy Thompson at Cascade Park Animal Hospital. I also volunteer with the Dove Lewis Emergency Animal Hospital in Portland, OR. I agree!!! She's been taking care of Darby for over two years and Emma since I adopted her last year. She was so ill and Dr. Traci helped us through the crises.
Dr. Thompson is no longer at Cascade Park Animal Hospital. I found her website at http://www.tracythompsondvm.com/ Go there for contact.
Dr Mark Burton at Evergreen Animal Hospital on 78th in Hazel Dell is a great vet.
Best daycare:
Running Pond Acres. I am home with my dogs right now, so I'm the best day care for them.I've been taking Darby there on and off for over 4 years. It's wonderful for him (and now Emma) and wonderful for my peace of mind.
Best boarding/kennels:
Running Pond Acres in Washougal by far!Yep!
Kennelseek.com - Helps you find great boarding kennels which are rated by other pet owners in your area.
Best groomers:
Happy Tails Dog Wash in Vancouver, WA. They are wonderful. I have been taking my dogs there for almost 2 years. The girls that help me are so nice. We had a very bad grooming experience at another place (I won't name names.) My dogs were hurt and were acting weird when I picked them up after getting them groomed. (Geez, don't they understand how much our pets mean to us?) Anyway, I love this place. The groomers are so gentle and it makes me feel better knowing that they use natural shampoos. They NEVER put my dogs in a kennel. My dogs are ALWAYS kept together. I've read that dogs dried in cages can get burned so I asked about that. They don't use dryers with heating elements. So, I don't have to worry about my dogs coming home with a burn mark (again). When I first started taking my dogs to Happy Tails I didn't trust anyone, so they let me stay and watch. There is a Starbucks close by. I can't say enough great things about this place!
Ruff Cuts owned by Eric Salas. He shows dogs and even trains dogs. I think he is the better than the Dog Whisperer without being arrogant. Eat your heart out Ceaser Milan! www.ruffcutsgrooming.com

Hi. We just moved to Vancouver from a small town in Oregon. We have a 4 year old Westie and a 2 year old Border Collie. We have had troubles getting Calvin (the Westie) groomed in the past, because he is so active! We took him to Orchards Feed Mill's groomers, and they did a GREAT job! He was a new puppy when he got home! I highly recommend their services.
