Perhaps your schedule is simply too busy to make a regular weekly commitment to an animal shelter, but you’d still like to help out. What else can you do to make a difference in a dog’s life?
- Make a financial donation to the shelter: The money often goes toward food and basic supplies, medical expenses for injured animals, or helps defray the costs of running the organization.
- Start a collection drive: Animal shelters are always in need of towels or blankets to use as temporary pet beds. Collect donations from co-workers or neighbors and drop them off at the shelter. Other desirable donations often include pet food and treats, chew toys, and food/water bowls. Check with your local shelter to see what is most needed.
- Send an email: Spread the word about upcoming adoption events by notifying everyone on your list. You just might connect a human with his or her ideal dog.
