Who Would Toss a 6 Week Old Yellow Lab?This is a featured page

Meet "Chance", an 8-10 week old "Beagador" (Beagle-Yellow Lab mix) that my stepson found in a ditch on Friday afternoon (July 31st). We named him Chance because he got a 2nd Chance at life.

He was so infested with fleas that before I could even get the flea shampoo on his head/ears my wife had just put it on his body.. the fleas in a MASS migration headed for the head like a blob. I've never seen anything like it in my life. We worked for almost an hour an a half on this little puppy to get all the fleas off of him. His gums were WHITE and he could barely stand. My stepson said he brushed all the fireants off his tail and his bum because thats where they were attacking him. In his weakened state, he wasnt going to last much longer.

Whether or not our family decides to keep "Chance" he will be guaranteed to have a home. I've already talked to someone about that. I wanted to share this story with ya'll because you never know when something like this will fall into your laps too. This is the 2nd Yellow Lab that we've rescued. I'm going to post another story about that little guy too - very heartwarming.

In a time where good news and happy endings are in the news much - its always great to hear when there is one. I would just encourage anyone out there, YOU TOO can do this. All it takes is a willing heart to help. If you make sure that you line up things before you need them it makes it that much easier too. Numbers to Vets, Emergency Vet hospitals, local rescues. Post all that on your Fridge. If you are like us you can go as far as making sure you have shampoo's, sprays and medicines (basic stuff, remember, a vet needs to direct you for antibiotics and pain meds etc).

Chance

By the time we got to his butt, he was REALLY tired of us working with him. Besides, he needed some food in him to give him some strength. Gave him some high protein puppy food - a little at a time..
De-Flea'ing Chance

On Saturday evening Chance was feeling better and was playing with a chewie.

Jason Holding Chance after the trauma of getting De-Flea'd by us. He was happy not being "picked at" for sure. Look at that Face! I have to say - this is one ADORABLE little puppy. We learn how sharp his little needle sharp teeth are on Sunday when he started his "Gnawing" Ouch.

Chance On Jason

As Chance gets more use to us at our house - he is becoming such a sweet dog. How anyone could have thrown this puppy in a ditch to die is beyond my comprehension.

For whatever silly reason my PC wont edit the page, but ill get on later with pictures. The little yellow lab puppy was covered head to toe by hundreds of fleas and fire ants. We almost lost him. We got him cleaned off, bathed and every single flea is gone. HydroCortisone to stop some of the discomfort since he's too young for any medications. Going to the Vet this morning. His gums were WHITE. But this morning they are PINK again! I think he's gonna make it. We've named him "2nd Chance" Who in God's name would do this to a Puppy? It was next to a Highway....There's a special place in H3LL for people do do this. We went back later to make sure there weren't any more from his liter, none there or in the woods either. Cant wait to get the pictures up. He is ADORABLE!
