We met Willow while wandering through the John Ancrum SPCA, as we did at least once a month. I had no experience with Boxers, but hubby fondly remembered a dear one from his childhood, and was half in love at sight. Daughter was very easily swayed by a few wet doggie kisses, but I was skeptical. Willow was heartworm positive, and an abuse/neglect case. She was also pretty big for an apartment dweller, and our home purchase plans were on hold. I was outvoted, and suckered in by sad eyes, so we adopted her.

Her first night home, Willow climbed into bed with us, and we were too tickled to kick her out. We soon found that she had been spoiled by someone at some point in her life and expected the same from us. Her original owner did not neglect her; he was unfortunate enough to ask someone to dog sit who had his/her own ideas about dog care. Sometimes I feel sorry for him because he lost her, but most of the time I just feel blessed. Will is precious and I cannot imagine life without her!

She has a few interesting habits. For one, she eats her toys; literally. She'll play nicely for a while, and then tear the toy to pieces (especially if it's stuffed or squeaks). She also makes this funky bird-like sound when she wants something.

Like many Boxers, she adores children, and is good with other dogs. Her best buds are a Pomeranian, Chihuahua-Dauchaund mix, and malamute. She would make an incredible mother, but, as per the SPCA rules, she was spayed before we brought her home.

Willow is my baby girl, walking buddy, and snuggle buddy.
