I read lots of websites and lots of people are calling dogs that are Border Collie/Kelpie a Coolie. Some call Australian Cattle Dog/Border Collie Coolies. Then some call dogs they have rescued Coolies! So, what exactly IS a Coolie?
Why do you call your dogs Coolies when I've read that they are Border Collie crossed? How can that be a Coolie?
Then I read one person's website, Royalla - something like that, and her bloodlines are posted and the dogs are Border Collie, Kelpie, Australian Cattle Dogs, and unknown, but yet they are called Koolies?

Thanks for your time and this has been the worst experience I've ever had at trying to find out information about a dog breed. If its this hard I'd hate to see if I actually buy a puppy, would I still get no help? It's like it's a closed circle of dog breeders that are crossing whatever to whatever and calling it a breed just to make money. Well, no thanks. Until someone tries to help, I'm off this breed and wouldn't recommend it to anyone! " We have only bred 1 litter which was over 3 years ago and dont plan on breeding any in the future. It does seem that people can and are breeding whatever they like and calling it coolie. My family has some wonderful dogs,crossbred and 'pure' (?) , some of the best we have ever had. But l doubt that you will ever, ever find a real purebred coolie. l think that the original coolie has been infused with so many other working breeds over the years that it just a heinz variety. We adore our dogs but have made the decision that the nastiness that goes on within the breed is just not worth the fuss and will have nothing more to do with coolies. This will be my last post on the subject.
