UPDATE- January 2008:
Akili is enjoying her Canadian winter, playing in the snow and fooling around with her other Coolie friends. She is a very good girl with lots of love to give and plenty of brains to challenge. Her name suits her well. This year will be exciting for her as she will start a more intensive training now that she has reached the age of one+, no more growth plates to worry about, :P
UPDATE - APRIL 27, 2007:
Akili attended her first herding clinic in the middle of April. Shawn was delighted in reporting that she "was awsome". Akili has natural ability and desire. She has been asked to attend a 2nd herding clinic, with Akili, by the same instructor.

UPDATE - APRIL 2, 2007:
Akili is doing very well in her puppy training. She learns quickly and rarely has to be shown twice as to what to do. Her ears are up and down, as she's teething.

UPDATE - January 30, 2007:
"Reka" is now officially, "Yata hae Shotgun Akili". Shawn reports that Akili was house and crate broke upon arrival to their new home. I wish I could have taken credit for that, but they were just a natural at going outside when they needed to go. Akili is showing her true herding dog colors by herding the resident cats. Shawn says she uses "eye" and body pressure to put the cats where ever she wants them. Both Akili and Jarrah are a big hit at the dog park where they insist on herding the other puppies and dogs around. Akili is stealth, silent, and waits to ambush her unsuspecting prey --- then it's "tag you're it!"

December 2006:
Reka means "beautiful girl" and that is exactly what she is. Shawn Murray is a dog trainer from Chilliwack Canada and is very active in dog sports, such as agility. She is the proud owner of "Reka" (now called Akili) and "Jarrah". Shawn is planning on participating with Akili in agility and herding trials.

Akili is a black-tri (meaning she is black with tan points and irish spotting). Her sire (father) is a black-bi (meaning black with irish spotting) and her dam (mother) is a black clear sable merle.

We look forward to hearing many updates from Shawn about Akili and Jarrah's accomplishments.
