Jan 17 2008, 12:50 AM EST I couldn't find a rescue that suited me and was still available when I got to it, so I placed an add on craigslist describing my self and a general description of the type of dog I was looking for and was contacted by a rescue group here in Nashville concerning this little sweetie. I have heart condition and need exercise but lack motivation on my own, Ruby provides that. She's happy to go for a walk anytime, but equally happy to cuddle all day long if I don't feel up to it. Tried for month's to figure out her "ethnicity" until I happened across a photo of a greagle. I hadn't heard of them, but ironically had initially said that she looked like someone had bred a beagle and an it. greyhound. All I knew of her background was that she had been used as a brood bitch until her hair was even falling out. She didn't know how to play or even what a toy was. I've had her spayed and given her lots of love and happy to say she has turned out to be a wonderful companion, and an extremely accomplished bedhog, Westy41 Do you find this valuable? |

Sep 4 2008, 9:58 AM EDT We've had 4 liters of Greagles so we've gotten REAL good with the breed. But now have the Beagle fixed ~ no more. They are INCREDIBLE dogs. I dont know why they didnt do this before. Yes, Ruby looks like a Greagle. The forehead and snout, the way it lays with its legs, they dont quite know what to do with them LOL... And yes they love to run and have fun but also they love to sleep and just be BUMS. Sounds like a Greagle. They also BOND to you ~ very strongly. They hang on your every move, word and movement. They need to be near you, touching you or by you. I kept two out of the original liter, Belle Star and Spanky. I have pictures of them up here. One is brown and white the other is Black and White. Both have identical personality traits in that respect. I've also found out that they are QUITE protective too. Not long ago we had some strangers over to the house, we were talking I asked the man to come over to the computer so I could show him how to get to the Interstate to get back to North Carolina ...he took 2 steps toward me and out of nowhere Belle and Spanky were on me. Belle got behind me and Spanky was in my lap..both were growling and showing teeth. I have NEVER seen them act this way. Aparently the guy was walking toward me TOO fast for their liking. But, they havent shown that with my wife yet...only me. If Ruby is a Greagle, which I think she is, you have a GREAT dog! Do you find this valuable? |
