Adoption
Feb 5 2008, 10:08 PM EST
Oprah, Have you ever considered a show about adoption for dogs? My husband and I adopted a retired racing greyhound in Feb,, 2004 and it was the best thing we ever did. Atlas became our furry kid and led a very happy life until his sudden death in Nov. 2007. Retired Greyhounds as Pets ( REGAP ), is a non-profit organization that takes in these hounds when the breeder no longer wants them for racing. Many breeders do not bother with this and simply kill them. If possible, we would like to see a show that discusses the topic of adopting dogs other than puppies from a pet store. Thanks and keep up the good work! Alice & Bill Mckas

Oh I couldn't agree more! As soon as I can afford a dog, I'm adopting a retired racer, and I can't wait! It's one of the best things you can do. And, they have so many social events geared toward Greyhounds all over the country, it sounds like so much fun! Oprah, you should definitely do an episode on dog adoption, especially Greyhounds! She recently did a show on puppy mills and talked about the importance of adopting dogs. Hey -- there's an Oprah fan site (O Mania Wiki) at http://omania.wetpaint.com It has a discussion forum page where you can post suggested future Oprah show topics
