Shawn and Csilla are two of the most rudest people that I"ve ever met! If you want to be treated rudely with condensending attitudes, then go to this rescue. If you want to be treated like a person and with respect, then go anywhere but Westside German Shepherd Rescue!!

I've just recently read on the internet where Westside German Shepherd Rescue lost a $35,000.00 donation because of these two peoples rudeness. How sad for the dogs!!!!!!!!!!!

This past weekend, my wife and I went to Westside German Sherman Rescue in Los Angeles to adopt a shepherd possibly two. We found the animals filthy and underweight. Some of the dogs had their fur crusted with urine, feces, and mud. The only response the volunteers could give was that, when the animals are caged up, they will get dirty. We were then sent to an auxiliary facility also in Los Angeles. This one was located under a freeway over pass in what appeared to be a storage area. I peeked inside "facility" and saw animals caged with no lights on. After short conversations with the volunteers it was determined that due to my and my wife's work hours (approx. 10 hours a day) and the fact that our yard is concreted (though a good portion of it is covered and shaded), made us unsuitable to adopt their shepherds. Apparently leaving the dogs in the deplorable conditions that we saw would fare better for their dogs’ well being. At a requested donation rate of $300 minimum per dog, I would have expected the facilities to be better, cleaner and the living conditions of the "rescued" dogs to be an improvement from whatever situation the dogs lived in before. I know this may sound like sour grapes, but I write this letter out of concern for the welfare of the animals they keep. I have no interest in going back nor will I refer them to all the animal lovers I know and come across. In fact, I will make sure and convey the experience we had so that anyone who may come across this “rescue” group will do so knowing what to expect. I do have to thank them though. After leaving their facility, we went to East Valley Animal Shelter. This facility should prove as an example to how shelters and rescue shelters should be. We found a new animal to adopt and love. Thank you for reading this. 2  out of 2 found this valuable. Do you?

Dear Anonymous,
Could you tell more about your experience. Where on the internet did you read about the donation?
Do you find this valuable?

It's funny how people who are denied the ability to adopt a dog have to run out and bad mouth an organization they know nothing about. Did you ever think you were denied because you are actually unfit to own and care for a dog? You probably ended up at the shelter because nobody else would adopt to you. I've adopted several dogs from Westside and they are great dogs. What you may not be able to understand is that many dogs they rescue are very thin and don't look great because they were saved from deplorable conditions and Westside steps in to help save the dogs. The shelter you ended up at kills them in high volumes without hesitation. So go preach somewhere else. Do you find this valuable?

Go to a clean kill shelter-save a healthy dog. I was deemed unsuitable to adopt a hound because I was 66-too old; my son is a disabled vet.-too frail; I was asked where I'd keep a hound-in or out. I told them any place the hound D#@* well wanted to be-I'm not a pack leader; if they did let me have one- they could come out any time they wanted and take the hound away if they saw anything they didn't like with anything. Basically-people would rather kill dogs then give people and the dogs a chance. Well, Missy is on my bed. Stonewall is a few feet from me on one of many of the dog beds around. They had 6 hours to be adopted-their euthanization was already scheduled-but a volunteer took a chance and posted them. They decided to give us a chance but several workers were saying the hounds would be in a shelter in less than a week. That was March 19, 2008. The dogs were feral and didn't know nothing-they are still learning-but they walk on a hillbilly coupler-so my legs don't fall off-they've routed burglers in the whole area and the cops and mailpersons love them--Stonewall tries to check the house before we go to bed-They think that they're pillows for toddlers-Go see the album the "Hound Chronicles" on how misfit people and misfit dogs can thrive. Stonewall-the handsome dude to the right was supposed to be psychotic and unable to react. He stood up on his hind feet and gentley leaned on my son's chest and looked into my son's eyes. My son thinks that Stonewall really understands the English language. It took about 90 days before they'd look up when we said their names. They never had a name before-they never had humans before. Many, many people in rescue groups are saints-but there have been other complaints about some people that take advantage of peoples' desire to do the right thing and do wrong to the dogs. Here, most dogs are on concrete, asphalt, hard packed dirt, or gravel. Do you find this valuable?
