Harley the evil puppy
May 14 2006, 7:57 AM EDT
My lab is almost 4 months old and torments my 3 year old german shepard, sending him to the vet twice with wounds from Harley's teeth. When will he settle down? Also he has some white on his chest...could he be a mixed breed or do some labs have this happen?

Have hope! My boy Chet was an absolute terrorist! When we completed our first obedience class (which I have never had to do for any other dog!), I asked if that meant we could now move on to the next level. The instructor quietly told me, "We would really rather you didn't." I had surgery on my arm from puppy teeth & we had serious house-breaking issues. Labs are slow to mature. Chet is 7 now and is the sweetest, most loving 100 lb lap puppy on earth. I wouldn't give him up for anything. He got me through the death of my husband. We walk without a leash and he is a welcome & expected guest at all of our friends homes. Hang in there.

Dakota is almost 4 years old, he has started to settle down, but still loves to maul our 10 year old Brittney. He chewed the stair case (shortly after refinishing), 4 pairs of leather dress shoes, numerous books , teddy bears, carpet, hardwood floor (Read Marley & me). But all of the kids in the neighborhhod and my daughter love him to death. To answer your question around 3 years of age he should start to settle down.
