My relatives are Aleut, Cheyenne in Oklahoma, Zuni and Navajo. I use the term Native American when I talk about non-specific members of non-specific pueblos and tribes. On the news- they say-Native Americans. In the North, many tribes prefer the term Indians. You are trying to recreate the dogs that were companions and workers for the different tribes. If a person says Native American dogs some of you people go nuts-if a person says Indian dogs some of you guys go nuts.
Think up a general tern for all dogs in all associations that are trying to recreate something that was far different from each other in pre-Viking North America. A person can say "Aussie" and it includes several different associations-some that have different breed standards-but everyone has a general idea of what you're talking about.
I don't have to be sympathetic, I only have to be fair. So come up with a term for your fantasy dogs-I'm waiting for viking fans to start recreating their dogs and argueing whether Russian or Siberian wolves were part of the original stock-it's a fantasy designer dog-It's like the new Wave Spiritual people in San Francisco that have taken over tribal holy places in National Parks and deny the Naitive Americans the right to practice their centuries old religion.
This is a place to talk about dogs that were rescued from kill shelters, freeways, deserts, cruel owners, neglect, etc. This is also a place to talk about your dogs and share pics-but this is not a site to convert other members that only your association is the true association.
