My brother in Japan has a male hound that adopts kittens. They generally realise that Buster has a new child, when he drops it in his food dish so it can eat. problem is that a kitten has to be really sick. Joe takes them all to the vet for care. I guess Buster is the real rescue dog-he was rescued himself from an air base that was closed down. He went for something and heard Buster baying at the airstrip-Buster didn't mind at all that Joe is a marine.
