I admit... Beagle puppies are one of the cutest life-forms around, but that being said: how can you deal with the baying that occurs for the rest of their lives? I can see why hunters would reuire that, but the average joe...

I have a pure bred beagle and she's almost a year old. Given I've not had her very long but I've only heard her make ANY noise about twice, much less the typical baying. I don't know, it might just be her. The noise she DOES make is dramatic sighs! :)

My dog Jackson (http://www.wikifido.com/page/Jackson+the+Airedale) makes these long throaty groans... he has a super deep voice and they'll last 10-20 seconds sometimes. He makes them especially long & loud after a long day of playing at daycare when he's so worn out. They sound like he's trying to say, "I'm just soooooooooo tirrrreeed!!!!!" 1 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

I have a pure bred beagle, Mieka, That'll turn 2 Sept. 15. She only makes noise when she want to go to bed. She starts her beagle crying at the door. Oh, and she only howls if theres a stranger coming late at night.

When everyone barks, it can get loud, but that's the case with any dog. If your beagle is well-exercised, not left alone for long stretches (two are always better than one), they should not make any more noise than any other dog. Now when you take them out for a walk and they get a scent, that may be a different story.... 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

My pure bread Beagle never barks unless someone is at the door or provoked. It is sooo quiet. very opposite from what I read. I must have lucked out.
