I do have to comment on the section of the article stating "what is now known today as the English bulldog". Although used as a description by many people, the AKC does not recognize the breed as "English Bulldog", but simply as the "Bulldog". Other than this small item, this was a very well researched article, and an interesting read. 0  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

This is a GREAT ARTICLE! It fits our dog so well!! We have an American Bulldog - Male - 2 years old - got him from a reputable breeder - all white except one ear - very healthy and so smart! Anyhow, this article defines our dog so well although he is not a guard dog in any way. American Bulldog have true heart, true grit, true devotion to their family and they love kids and other animals too! We were asked by our vet to socialize our bulldog early on with other animals but he's a happy dog no matter if he's around people or other dogs - just loves to play - not aggressive at all or hostile. The look of the American Bulldog is strong, but underneath those muscles, is a a heart of gold. Do you find this valuable?

The AKC refers to them simply as "Bulldog" because the AKC doesn't recognize any other bulldog types for confirmation. And while the AKC is a very well known registry, it is not THE authority on dog breeds. Do you find this valuable?
