Here Here, why oh why do people buy when the pounds are killing millions of just such breeds yearly!!!!
I am a rescue and currently have at least 5 "Designer" breeds right now, when in rescue they are mutts, when you pay $1000 they are designer??? Crazy.. SPAY NEUTER TODAY/SAVE LIVES TOMORROW 6 out of 6 found this valuable. Do you? |

Are we missing the point here?? Is this not about the love of a dog? Kudos to those who rescue dogs from shelters, but does this mean that anybody who has a purebreed is evil also? Isn't this really about responsible breeding? There are irresponsible breeders of purebreeds, mutts, designer dogs, cats, and children! But the categorical dissing of people who prefer a certain mix or breed is irrational... We all choose differently, but it's each individual's responsiblity to take care of your own dog...

Nothing wrong with purebreds -- I own two Chows. What's purebred about a designer mutt?

Whats wrong with cross breeds? I think inbred purebred breeding is worse. Yes it is down to personal choice but bashing cross breeds isnt going to solve the problem of homeless dogs. I dont care if my dog is a mutt, we've waited a lont time for someone to join our family. I turned down a cavalier king charles for my alfie. purebred or cross, the number of dogs bred far exceeds the number of homes for avaliable for them. what does it matter what kind of dog they are, they all need homes. The horrible health issues some purebreds suffer for the sake of being a purebred. What hope do we have of anyone adopting cross breeds if there is all this talk?? Designer dogs or mutts, personally i think the term designed dog gives them a slightly better chance of finding a home. That is a bunch of poo...I have searched high and low for the breed I wanted from places like rescue and SPCA'S before I got my own and there are not a "million zillion" of them in the pound...NOT ONE...

What a dumb reply.....I own a chipoo who is miniature poodle and chihuahua, and a chi....Who are you to say that these are designer mutts??? Why don't you spend your time sharing any knowledge you have instead of calling names??? FYI smartpants, chows are not purebreeds either, MUTT OWNER!!!! I used to have them as well and have done tons of research on them....They are mixed as well, do your research...
