More info on Cockaliers
Sep 11 2006, 1:54 AM EDT Hello Darcy! We had another wikiFido member ask on another page about Cockaliers. They wanted to know anything you could share about them...size, temperament, shedding, special care, etc... Any chance you could share what you know about this great mix with us. That would be outstanding if you could. If you just click EasyEdit on the Cockalier page and fill in whatever you can, that would be such a help to our users. Thanks! 4 out of 5 found this valuable. RE: More info on Cockaliers
May 27 2007, 9:05 PM EDT Our cockalier, Bogey, is black & white with freckles on his nose and brown spots above his eyes. He is the most loving dog. Also wants to be close at hand. Is wonderful with our 5 young grandchildren. He behaves better than any dog I have ever had. I thought he would be about 25 lbs and has gotten up to 36, now is at a good weight of 33. This combination is a wonderful blend of two good breeds. 4 out of 5 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: More info on Cockaliers
Aug 12 2007, 12:21 PM EDT Our Cockalier is @ 3 yrs old. He loves to snuggle and is very affectionate. He has lots of personality and is fun. He is black and tan, @ 24 lbs and very handsome. He's healthy and gets groomed about every 6 weeks cause he can be very furry. He doesn't like to share toys and can get aggressive when challenged for something he posseses. I see Cocker behavior as well as Cavalier. We had a great Cavalier that died from heart disease when she was 7. That's why we chose a cockalier. We are considering getting another cockalier soon. 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: More info on Cockaliers
May 2 2008, 2:56 PM EDT My cockalier is 6 1/2 years old. His name is Willie Wonka and is a favorite wherever he stays or goes. Personality plus. Learns tricks quickly, stays at home without any mess to return to while I am at work if he isn't at one of his doggy day cares, likes to please, some willfulness around going after rabbits but I don't mind :), not a big barker except when he must let me know someone is outside but will do "quiet barks" if I ask him to, does shed. Cropped tail by breeder, sheds any coat dirt quickly so looks clean again easily, does shed hair but I don't mind, loves to swim swim swim, runs around the living room and chooses a different toy to "walk" with him on his outtings in the morning and night, into rabbits adn birds but not so much squirrels, doesn't mind being bathed though not crazy about being combed or dried with a blower (all my other dogs have loved being combed so think it was something he was exposed to before I got him). Has beautiful feathers on paws and legs, but I am thinking of shaving his lower half for summer this year as he swims and rolls in sand a lot in summer. Loves going after balls. Thinks the bed is heaven. Likes to look out windows. Pleasant pleasant pleasant to be with. Loves massages. Definitely people oriented. He is the best but I am partial. Thinking of getting him a little sister to be with, too. Has the cavalier ear so not prone to infections like a cocker. No major illnesses yet. My day care people love to comb his top hair - make him look like Donald Trump sometimes. Can't recommend this breed more highly. Williesmom 4 out of 4 found this valuable. Do you? |

Jun 28 2008, 5:16 PM EDT "My cockalier is 6 1/2 years old. . Has the cavalier ear so not prone to infections like a cocker. No major illnesses yet. Williesmom "Hi me again, I accidentally miscounted his years old - only 5 1/2. He just got foxtails (indigenous weed) in his ears (both) as well as paws. Tis the season ,or so the vets tell me. Noticed him shaking his head and seemed a little disoriented. My vet was surprised I caught it so early. Watch out for those weeds! Williesmom, celticharpist Do you find this valuable? |
