The breed "American Bulldog" is not recognized by the AKC, and has significant differences than the standard "Bulldog", most obvious in larger size and muscle mass, and facial appearance. I would recommend reviewing the AKC site (www.akc.org) and searching under breeds. Photos and the corresponding breed names are presented. Although not recognized by the AKC, the American Bulldog is a noble and strong breed, but should not be confused with the traditional "Bulldog".
