If there is no standard, then who determines what is a Koolie and what guidelines does this person go by? 21  out of 27 found this valuable. Do you?

Have a look at the Koolie website at www.koolie.net read the words from the breeders who are working their Koolies, it might help you understand why the Koolie club doesn’t dictate a standard.
Also you can ask your question directly to those same people on the Koolie forum, you can access the forum from the website.
Happy reading and researching the Koolie breed.

You might as well give up, because you will never get an answer.

I'm tired of reading the Koolie club site and not having the question answered, please just answer the question, if you can.

It seems that the koolie forum is only open to certain people. Maybe those who will not question the ethics of the club and some of its breeders. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

There is no definative standard in australia as of yet, because the breed was only officially recognised as a breed in the last several years.

I am not apart of the Kollie Club of Australia and I know alot of Koolie owners aren't because of the "run-around" they get when trying to research their own bloodlines and in general from people critising the breed when they themselves know very little about it.

The Australian Koolie is one of Australia's oldest breeds, having been around before the Cattle dog and possibly before the collie, there is very little documentation of the koolie in australia despite this fact and so it is hard for anyone throughly exploring the breed to come to any conclusions. basically, apart from anyone who's ever owned a Koolie you have very little idea of what to expect or how to handle a Koolie the best source I have found is Koolie breeders /owners the people who have lived and worked with this wonderful breed the most.

I'd like to rephrase what I mean about "Run-Around" Whilst there a few people unhappy with the AKC they are currently the best and probably only community trying to establish an Australian Koolie standard.

I think they should be careful they dont alienate future Koolie lover's in the process though.

Do you mean Koolie Club of Australia? NOT the AKC (American Kennel Club). The German Coolie has had a standard since 2004 --- www.coolieregistry.com

The KCA copied many of the ideas from that standard, of course, they won't admit that.
