Some Facts regarding the arrival of the First Fleet
Oct 29 2006, 9:12 PM EST
Captain Cook arrived on the Endeavour, one ship, does not make a fleet, in 1770, the First Fleet didn't land until 18 years later and neither voyages
carried herding breeds of any kind.
All facts pertaining to Captain Cooks only Voyage to Australia can be found in the Book H.M Bark Endeavour by Ray Parkin and many like it.
And facts on the First Fleet, headed by Captain Phillip can be found in the book Australia's First Fleet by Jonathan King which included the
complete human manifests for all eleven ships of the Fleet, which proves that no free settlers arrived on either voyages. The only dogs which were mention were Josephs Banks, which were a couple of male gun dogs, he accompanied Captain Cook.

Thanks anonymous you must like to read books.
I have those same book, it is wonderful what you can uncover just by picking up a history book.
Another little piece of interest focuses of the Arrival of John and Elizabeth Macarthur on the second fleet in 1790.
As those who are involved with the Koolie history and origin know the John Macarthur was instrumental in launching the sheep industry here in Australia, it didn't get off the ground until 1830, due to England being at war with France.
But his wife Eliza did in fact transport and employed a German sheepherder his family and German working dogs to manage her flocks at Parramatta, that was where the Macarthur’s lived before moving to Camden Estate.
I was once told by a very old breeder of Koolies that if you wanted to know about them follow the stock and it has born fruit so far a number of little hot spots have been uncovered much like Kelpie author Tony Parsons refers to in his book.
Books are wonderful, useful, handy items to have wouldn’t you agree.

Oops forgot to mention, the Endeavour landed in Botany Bay.
The first Fleet arrive in Botany Bay 20th January 1788 then moved onto Port Jackson on the 26th, planted the English Flag and founded the first colony.
He was not happy with Botany Bay and believed that Port Jackson had better potential for agriculture, it wasn’t.
It should also be understood that for the first five decades all efforts were put into clearing the wild bush, establishing food crops just to survive and the majority of stock both mutton and beef were for eating.
So speculation that herding dog breeds would be allowed to take up precious space or share what little stores the first colonials had, might be a bit of a reach.
Now this is a good thread please don’t start with the personal attacks again, it’s all just a waste of time, you won’t get any response. Move on
