Hopefully getting two this fall, can't wait- Please give me any tips (positive only- We have already made our minds up to get two NAIDs, so negative comments will not change my mind about the dogs, just the the people posting)
What do you feed, any early training tips, anything you would have done differently. Thank you in advance!

Hi,
I purchased two NAIDs this spring. I bought two males (brothers). Can't say enough good things about them and this breed. Very intelligent and very sweet personalities.
They are quite sensitive so pick them up and take them as carry on if you are flying. DO NOT cargo ship them.
I started training pretty early on (around 3 1/2 to 4 months). Find a good trainer that understands the breed and its characteristics. My trainer is like the local dog whisperer. She uses corrective based training - not food-based training. In saying that, you want to use the MINIMAL amount of correction to get their attention.
Just one comment on the other comments re: the timid nature of this breed. One of my guys is quite confident and self-assured; the other is a bit more timid. My trainer told me that dogs go through several fear cycles during their development, where they are sometimes freaked out by new environments. If you spend more time with them, don't overcorrect them, but don't reinforce their fears, they get through it.
