Boxer Protectiveness

Don't underestimate your Boxer's ability to protect you or yours, in the unlikely event of an actual emergency. My boy showed absolutely no indication he was willing or able to do anything but love everybody, until one day after his 4th birthday, when he stopped a man in his tracks, who appeared threatening to us. His ferocity took me by surprise and scared me as much as the frozen man. If the day ever comes, which hopefully it will not, you will see what an intuitive breed the Boxer is, treating everyone as a friend, until given a reason not to. There is no safer or more reliable breed when it comes to discerning friend from foe. 1  out of 1 found this valuable. Do you?

I agree totally!! They are protective and highly intuitive. My Bruno was super-friendly to everyone. He was always goofy and playful. I loved him dearly, but I thought he was useless as a guard dog. Then one day, when Bruno was three years old, a man approached my mother in our driveway. Mama said the man gave her a bad feeling, but he did not physically threaten her. Bruno must have gotten the same bad feeling, because he jumped our four-foot chain link fence and chased the man away! This was one of the only two signs of aggression he ever showed in his whole life. The other was toward my boyfriend--who turned out to be a control-freak jerk with a vicious temper. From then on, Bruno interviewed all my dates, and I trusted his judgement! He immediately adored the man who is now my wonderful husband. Do you find this valuable?
