Hello
Feb 18 2007, 4:06 PM EST Your photos of Shetland sheepdogs are not very true to the breed characteristics. I live in Shetland and own a Shetland sheepdog. 2 out of 3 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: Hello
Mar 29 2007, 10:02 AM EDT They may be representative of the US standard. Don't forget the British and US standards are different. Several years back the English Shetland Sheepdog Club invited a very well respected breeder from US to talk to Brit enthusiastic. He bought along lots and lots of pictures of winning US Shelties. Many people commented how different they are to British dogs. e.g I have never seen a breed champ sheltie in UK with pricked ears but they seemed not to be uncommon in US. Looking at the US KC standard many of our winning dogs are too small. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

Mar 30 2007, 4:45 AM EDT "Your photos of Shetland sheepdogs are not very true to the breed characteristics. I live in Shetland and own a Shetland sheepdog."I would love to see photos of what the Shelties from the Shetland Islands look like today. I owned a Shetland Sheepdog for 13 years, he was the love of my life. The breeder I got my dog from breeds them smaller than most I have seen and they have a certain look to them that I have not seen in other Shelties on website pages. They are bred on a farm and have retained strong herding instincts also as well as being smaller than most I see. Where would photos of them from other areas be available to see? you can also email me at kristi7717@aol.com Thanks 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |
