My boy's potty training
Feb 23 2007, 7:14 PM EST Hello! I own Max who is one of the other poochons on this website. He was born a little before your baby. Max was difficult to potty train. Luckily, he has two big sisters (poodles) that he reall admires who helped to train him; however, when I was working with him on my own, it was really hard. Max would have three good days and then potty on the floor out of no where. I have two poodles aside from Max. The two poodles basically needed no training, so I was afraid Max was abnormal or something, but I learned that it is very common for potty training to take a while. Anyway, my suggestion is mainly keep an eye on him. You can't correct the behavior if you don't see him do it. It's important to catch him in the act, correct him, and bring him outside (or where ever you want him to go). If you can't watch him, fence off the space he can inhabit. Also, when I took Max outside to go, I would praise him like there was no tomorrow. After he would go potty, he would get so excited for himself because I made a big deal out of it. Even when he used his wee wee pads as a pup, I made a huge fuss. Bichons and poodles LOVE to know they did something right. They really are the overachievers of the dog world. Eventually your baby will get the hang of it. Just be consistent. Have a routine with your cutie. That will help a lot. Glad to know someone else loves their poochon. Good luck, and hang in there. It's worth it! 2 out of 2 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: My boy's potty training
Feb 24 2007, 2:24 AM EST We recommend this method and do searches on the Internet re: puppy training. Generally the most preferred method is using crate training: Housebreaking http://www.wikifido.com/page/Housebreaking "... House breaking or potty training your pup is important since it’ll save you the effort of cleaning up after it. You cannot train it before it is two to three months old, since this is when it develops muscles and control of its bowels... " Please go to the House training page for the full text. Feb 27 2007, 4:00 PM EST "Hey Thanks ScottishTerrier/ MaxROFLMFAO! >>. I am not sure if Poochon is eager to please, because it seems like he will do anything to please himself!!! =) << That's male in any breed and species HA! My lil Moosey is the same way. So my mmm 2 ftr x 6ft tall male here LOL! I am sure Mr. Moose would have been much harder to break than my Neyll if he came first. Neyll was a dream less than a week and she had it down. Now to go potty inside she would think of it as a personal defeat. What a good lil sweet, polite girl we have. Daddy's lil girl. Moose Moose you can tell my MaMa's lil boyo. My lil shadow and snuggle bunny boyo. He wants to be held like a baby laying on my chest and his head firmly pressed to my cheek. What precious gifts God has given us.. our dogs! Hug yer pupper Mami for Aunt Patty. Mr. Moose and Nayll send wags and slurpy kisses to Marni amd Max. Bestest, Pat, Neyll, and Moose Dunlap Do you find this valuable? |
