My shih tzu loves everything and everyone

My experience is just the opposite. People can't believe how easy going he is. He lives with 3 cats, loves kids, and is a friend to all. The only time he ever growls is when he is stalking and attacking his stuffed toys. When I take him out, he usually collects a fan club within 1-2 blocks, of people cooing over him. If I see a couple walking with a young child and the child looks like they want to meet the doggie, I always reassure them that he is very gentle, and is a good dog for them to meet. If I stop to talk with a friend, he just lies down to wait until I am finished, with no tugging or restless behavior. I know every shih tzu is different, but just wanted to let readers know that some are as sweet as can be. There are several shih tzus living in my neighborhood, and uniformly they are happy friendly little guys - very low maintenance.

HELP!! We brought a Shis Tzu puppy into a house with six cats. They are wonderful cats and he is a wonderful puppy but it has been extremely stressful trying to socialize them all. He want to play and "attack" them. The cats are very curious but extremely cautious. They want to check him out but when he gets too aggressive, they tend to react by spitting or lifting their paws. We are extremely fearful that they will scratch his eye out. (It happened to a friend of ours). Will they ever get along? Did we make a mistake? I am at my wits end trying to keep peace in the house. Any help you can provide would be very much appreciated.

" Same deal - my shih tzu is my baby, but she absolutely loves everyone and is sweet as can be. Very playful, yet also very mellow.

I adopted my shih tzu from the shelter and he is so pleasant. Everybody he meets says that he's so mellow and nothing seems to bother him. Low maintenance and a picture of perfection. Everywhere I read they say he's supposed to be between 8 and 12 lbs but he's 15 and the vet says that he should gain about 2 lbs. I'm not sure if his size is "normal."

i tink that anyone that thinks shitzus dont make goog family dogs are talking shit ive had my shitzu for 6mths and have no problems at all with her ok she was harder to toilet train than my last dog she loves kids loves gettin a bath sits on command and has kisses for everyone the thing that makes a well behaved dog is socialising for the day we got her i had herin pet shops she had a bath was round all my family members houses i think that if u get them used to people straight away u shouldnt think oh its too much to soon thats how they get used to things and make sure they no ure the boss from the start because they now how to play of their cutness
