naid
Apr 14 2007, 3:00 AM EDT I personally thought it was my worst pet purchase. I spent over a grand on the dog. I already own three dogs, and this dog is by far the most timid and unresponsive. In addition, the dog isn't very loyal and always tries to avoid me when I'm calling its name or getting its attention. I really hate to say it, but i think i made a big mistake buying this dog, even as a dog lover its hard for me to find any good traits in this dog. 18 out of 45 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: naid
Sep 12 2008, 4:07 PM EDT NAID's can be a bit different than most dogs. This is because they have quite a bit of wolf blood. My father used to raise wolves, so maybe i can give some advise to the potential NAID owner. Ideally, YOU should be the first thing the new pup experiences, even it this means bottle feeding the pup as soon as it's born. This is to imprint it from birth that you are the Alpha. Alternitavely, you should put in a surrogate mother of a more easygoing breed, like a collie, and visit it as much as you can. Seeing as how most of you are buying them at around 8 weeks old, they'll already have someone else imprinted in thier minds. Spend as much time as you can with them while their young and make sure they know who's boss, and making sure that they respect and trust you, and don't fear you. NAID's don't respond too well to harsh admonishions. Be gentle and be patient and soon you'll have another loveable, albeit fuzzy, member of the family. 1 out of 1 found this valuable. Do you? |

RE: naid, no such thing
Oct 17 2008, 3:25 PM EDT I am so sorry anyone got caught up in this hoax. All north american indigenious dogs are extinct except some south american varieties snd the eskimo dogs. please see for further study www.sledogcentral.com for two excellent articles about native dogs. both have resources for further study and if yo don't want to beleive it check out the DNA- RK Wayne, a leading canine geneticist has sproven that no living populations of dogs carries the unique genetic haplotypes that Native dogs had, DNA extracted from pre-columbian dogs do not match any modern dogs. Period. its sad that this is yet again another example of somebody selling something and simply attaching "Native American" to it in order to make a buck. the original breeder simply adjusted to wolf hybrids beocming illegal in her state. RE: naid hoax
Oct 19 2008, 4:00 PM EDT You guys have all got to be joking! Really I kinda thought you were but after looking at a pictire on one of the web sites, my Z looks cross between wolf and coyote, but she was free and full grown and we didn't do any funky bonding, but it has been an adventure cause she thought she was the boss. My other 2 dogs, 1 short fluffy blond dog and 1 "had her puppies under my portable in the dead of winter bird dog" are rez dogs in the truest sense, that they were full of fleas, worms and in the case of mother dog 35 pounds instead of 69. All 3 dogs are totally loyal but have no papers get what is important to you Do you find this valuable? |
